• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  "Language is more than just grammar and vocabulary; it is a gateway to understanding diverse cultures and human connection. My interest was sparked during my own journey of learning a second language, where I realized that the real breakthrough happens when you stop translating and start thinking in that language. This fascination with how the brain bridges communication gaps led me to dive deep into linguistics and the nuances of effective coaching."

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  "My primary motivation is the 'lightbulb moment'—that instant when a student finally gains the confidence to express themselves fluently. I was inspired by a mentor who didn't just teach me rules, but showed me how language could change my life's opportunities. I chose to teach because I want to be that catalyst for others, helping them break down barriers and achieve their personal and professional goals through communication."

• How does your work help society?

  "In an increasingly globalized world, my work helps build bridges between people who would otherwise remain strangers. By equipping individuals with the tools to communicate effectively, I am fostering empathy, cultural exchange, and mutual respect. Language coaching isn't just about 'words'; it's about reducing misunderstandings and empowering people to contribute their unique voices to the global community."

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  "I look up to polyglots and educators who advocate for the 'natural method' of learning, such as Stephen Krashen. His focus on 'comprehensible input' aligns with my philosophy that language should be acquired naturally rather than forced through rote memorization. Like him, I believe my role is to create a low-stress environment where students feel safe enough to experiment and grow."

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  "Outside of coaching, I am a passionate traveler and a bit of a 'culinary explorer.' I find that trying new cuisines is another way to learn about the history and soul of a culture without using a single word. I also enjoy [mention a specific hobby, like 'reading historical fiction' or 'playing tennis'], which helps me maintain a balanced perspective and brings fresh energy into my coaching sessions."

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  "I once had a student who was terrified of speaking during our first session. Instead of focusing on a textbook, we spent the lesson 'planning a dream vacation' using only the target language. By the end of the hour, they were so caught up in describing the beaches they wanted to visit that they forgot they were 'learning.' Seeing that shift from fear to excitement reminded me that the best learning happens when we focus on the goal, not just the grammar."
