About Meghan
I am a second-generation Canadian with a passion for helping immigrants, newcomers, and English learners feel supported in their English journey. I have always wanted to be an ESL instructor and I have been spending the past five years working and learning in order to do so. I have also worked on SSHRC-funded Applied Linguistics research at the University of Victoria. This research was concerned with the gaps and flaws in the IELTS exam, making me uniquely in tune to the problems that many learners face when trying to achieve language certification through standardized testing.

It is important to me that private tutoring sessions are guided by the student's desires and goals for learning English. I have experience teaching for several different levels of English proficiency. I create lesson plans that are catered to student goals regarding language forms (conversational, form-focused grammar, phonetics and phonology) but also cultural interests, especially for those who are new to Canada or planning a move to an English-speaking country. I am friendly, dynamic, and draw on many theories of second language instruction in order to suit the learner's needs.
