About Nicholas
I graduated with my BSc honours in mathematics, and then completed my Master's in Mathematics at Waterloo. After graduating, I began a full-time position at Okanagan College where I tutored the college's students in math and physics. A year later, I transitioned to being a full-time instructor at Okanagan College. I have taught a variety of undergraduate mathematics and statistics courses including first-year calculus. Because of my experience both as a tutor and an instructor, I am able to provide an unparalleled tutoring experience. While I have now transitioned to medical school at UBC Okanagan, tutoring math is one of my greatest joys. I look forward to working with you!

Because of my passion for math and physics, I take deep joy in helping students succeed in these areas. Many students who struggle with math or science are convinced they are not cut out for math or physics. Often, however, their struggle is a result of poor teaching. I believe that with the correct teaching methodology, anyone can succeed in the mathematical subjects. I like to tutor by first understanding the difficulties a student is having with the material. Once we have identified areas of difficulty, I enjoy motivating the underlying concept we are studying with respect to some practical application. Even in the abstractness of math or physics, this is often possible and allows students to get a better "grip" on what we are studying. Next, we properly define the concept under examination and how they relate to the bigger picture of math or physics. Finally, I prefer to do as many example problems as possible. This is especially important in the area of math and physics. In my opinion, examples are the best way to solidify difficult material.

Nick is an absolutely brilliant individual who also has the ability to communicate complex math concepts and problems in simple, straight forward ways. He is incredibly passionate and kind and a true delight to work with. I would highly recommend Nick for anyone needing math help!
Nicholas knows what he's teaching and teaches it well. He will give a run down of any concept that you might have trouble with or guide you towards understanding it. He has the solid grasp of concepts of a good mathematician as well as the patience of a good teacher.
I took many classes with Nicholas. He is great at understanding concepts and explaining them to his classmates. I went to Nicholas plenty of times for help and I would recommend him as a teacher.
I took several upper-level math courses with Nicholas and he tended to be the hardest working person in every class. It is very clear that he has a passion for math. To top it off, he is also adept at translating difficult “math-speak” into language that students (and particularly those who don’t speak or think in math) can easily understand which is so rare to find. He has many years of experience from being a TA in the UBCO physics department to tutoring to teaching his own math course!
Nicholas is powerful in Math (one of the math geniuses in the people I know), which means he can teach at the undergraduate level undoubtfully. Also, he is concerned about how to make math easy to understand for students. I am sure students would get fun and math knowledge from his teaching.
Nicholas and I both studied math at the University of British Columbia. We have discussed course material on many occasions
where he has been incredibly helpful in helping me understand high level mathematical topics. I have also had the opportunity to watch his talks at the Undergraduate Research Seminars.
He has demonstrated himself to be both a great communicator, and incredibly knowledgeable in a very large set of math subjects.
I cannot recommend him highly enoughNicholas is very knowledgeable and is great at walking through problems in a way that helped me understand in ways my professor was unable to through notes and lectures. Nicholas is also very kind
I was a student at UBC with Nick for my first two years. We were in a number of math and physics courses together. He was a great student and always happy to help me out when I was confused about anything. The way he explained it often made more sense to me than how the professor did. I ended up at 90%+ in each of these courses and I feel that Nick was very helpful in accomplishing these goals (even though I was not paying him as a tutor).
Nicholas is an organized scholar. He has an immense knowledge in both physics & math. He is able to systematically approach a problem, breaking it into smaller pieces, to effectively find a solution. His overall logical approach to math & physics, coupled with his professionalism and kindness, make him an ideal tutor.
I took a few classes with Nick during my undergraduate degree, and I would fairly often ask him for help with tough math problems. Nick would always be very patient and friendly when explaining complicated questions/concepts to me, which I always appreciated. He is a very knowledgable guy, and I would highly recommend him!
I was recommended Nicholas from a professor at the university of British Columbia to help me with an exceedingly difficult formal logic module. Nicholas was very accommodating and professional from the start. He was able to thoroughly explain every detail step-by step and crafted a dedicated study plan tailored to my requirements. I had trouble with Math and Logic in the past, hence I was impressed by how approachable Nicholas was able to make the material for me. I found him to be very patient which was conducive to a productive and helpful tutoring environment. He was never late nor missed a single session and quickly responded to any inquiries I had.
I would highly recommend Nicholas! Definitely the best math tutoring experience I could have asked for.
