About Elizabeth
Hi, my name is Elizabeth! I am a recent graduate at the University of Manchester in History. I grew up in West London and focussed my learning from GCSE onwards on heavy essay-based subjects such as History and English. I love learning about history, but I particularly love being able to spread that learning through teaching and I have found that in preparing for exams and expanding your essay skills, communication through tutoring and discussing topics is vital.
I have spent my childhood across three different continents learning a variety of history and culture from each, this has greatly impacted my life and my belief that history is one of the most important things for young people to learn.

I would start with a taster lesson in the subject area that the student wants to work on. With these the lesson will focus on understanding which areas are stronger and weaker and where we should focus any future lessons. For example in previous English lessons at GCSE level I have focussed on understanding and demonstrating language and structure techniques, particularly if this is something they are struggling with in school lessons.
For my lessons, I would focus on a 1-2 hour period to maintain the focus and energy of the student. I believe that enthusiasm to learn and the ability to understand the work is vital in complex essay-style subjects and a shorter period of just one hour is perfect for keeping up energy and engagement.
