About Jeremy

Hi, I’m Jeremy, a registered psychologist with over seven years in academia. Before studying psychology, I worked in the disability sector, providing support, coordination, and applied behavioral intervention. I’ve spent the past year and a half delivering psychotherapy to children and adults, including CBT and DBT, and I currently co-facilitate a DBT program for at-risk teenagers. I’ve also worked in psychology-focused business management and understand how psychological theory applies in real-world systems and services. My research background includes studies on regional Australian happiness, sexuality, and community connection, an experimental project on neuronal noise and neurodivergence, and a current single-sample multiple baseline intervention targeting dangerous behaviors in individuals with severe intellectual disability. My tutoring aims to be clear, supportive and tailored to your needs, whether you’re tackling research methods, clinical theory, or applied psychology. I’m here to help you build confidence and think critically.

About the lesson

I am a registered psychologist with a strong academic background. I specialize in quantitative research and have substantial practical experience in clinical and community intervention settings, particularly with young adults. I aim to help students comprehend the underlying reasons behind human thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. My lessons are grounded in a foundation of both theoretical and practical knowledge, linking scientific principles to real-world examples. I encourage critical thinking, active engagement, and questioning rather than just memorizing. You can expect evidence-based practices to help analyze research and apply psychology in health, sport, business, or law contexts. Lessons are discussion-based, practical, and student-centered, incorporating deidentified case studies, problem-solving exercises, and practice quizzes. Hence, my aim is to:
-> Simplify complex theories
-> Connect textbook knowledge to real examples
-> Guide critical analysis and research evaluation
-> Provide relevant practice activities
-> Encourage active participation, debate, and reflection

Subjects Covered
-> Academic Writing and APA 7 Formatting
-> Foundations of Psychology
-> Developmental Psychology
-> Social Psychology
-> Learning and Cognition
-> Motivation and Emotion
-> Physiological Psychology
-> Psychopathology
-> Research Methods (focus on quantitative experimental)
-> Survey Research & Design
-> Applied Psychology (Counseling, Health, Forensic, Sport, Legal) Lessons last around 60 to 90 minutes, with dedicated 30-minute sessions available for assignment revision. Who Are My Lessons For?
-> College or university students in psychology (Years 1-3);
-> Students in double degrees (Law, Business, Sport and Exercise Science) needing a psychology foundation;
-> Those considering postgraduate pathways in clinical or health psychology;
-> Anyone interested in building an evidence-based understanding of psychology or applying psychological science to real-world intervention
