About Georgina
I want to teach because, having finished studying literature, I want to begin helping others improve their own skills. Volunteering with Voices of America has instilled in me a passion for helping intelligent people access their potential English language and literature skills. Furthermore, working with those at the beginning of their English language 'journey', so to speak, has made me confident that I can offer even more to students in the United Kingdom wanting to learn how to write. This includes whether they are wanting to improve their spelling, grammar, and punctuation, learn which arguments to pose in essays, or write in a style that appeals to teachers and examiners.

I offer one-hour lessons for students preparing for the English Language and Literature GCSE, English Literature A-Level, and for the ELAT test in advance of their Oxbridge application. I currently have regular students in English A-Level, GCSE and writing. I have previously taught English to women based in Afghanistan as part of my volunteer work with the charity Voices of America Teaching English language and studying literature up to the level of MPhil has given me extensive command over the written word; I am confident in my ability to help all students master the essay writing skills necessary for their exams and for entrance into Oxbridge, should this be something they wish to pursue. I emulate a Cambridge supervision-style in sessions with students. In our first meeting, I will establish the personal goals of the student, and the timeframe in which they wish to achieve them - this helps me tailor content and readings to the individual student. I am a huge proponent for teaching that is fun and creative, so I always try to maintain this in my lessons. Most importantly, I am passionate about literature and the English language, and believe that - with the right teacher - anyone can enjoy this subject.
