About Emily
I have been dancing ballet since I was three (as do most) and graduated into classical ballet when I was 9, I trained with The National Ballet Academy of Denver for 10 years, and graduated into professionalism at 18. I am versed in minute, fine details of Vaganova Technique. My instructor was a graduate of the Perm School of Russia and went on to dance with numerous companies including ABT and ENB. My other instructor was a medalist in the Prix de Lusanne and an early graduate of the Royal ballet school. I myself have been given a beautiful career from their instruction from being a 1st Place medalist in YAGP to Dancing Lead Roles with San Diego Ballet. Which led me to my passion of teaching, I have taught privately for two years in NYC and Love it!! Fully Believe in disciplined instruction but can be better administered in private lessons where i can cater to each dancers mindset and mental health. Whilst I'm grateful for my instruction, it was grueling and quite demeaning, my mental health definitely suffered from classroom drama/abuse. Which is why I am here to help pioneer a new age of sophisticated dancers with the ability to truly shine in their career. I have taught tall, small, elder, and young. I do not discriminate! For new and young dancers I like to build a curriculum based around strengthening the ankles and integrating the importance of stretching. Now you by no means need to be a super flexible dancer but you need to be at your most flexible state for ballet technique to really ingrain into the muscles.
Once that is established we can move forward into the curriculum I teach ALL of my dancers. I grew up on the artistic side of ballet and firmly believe in preserving the art form aspect of technique which blends seamlessly with Vaganova Technique. There isnt a technique that amplifies port de bras like Vaganova and French techniques, truly a beautiful syllabus for the body to start or continue conditioning muscles. So a heavy focus on artistry and MUSICALITY. A dancer MUST know how to be a musical being otherwise all of your career you will be fighting the music. Next, I delve into the technical tracking of each movement because I cannot stress enough of how important injury prevention is!!! With my attention to detail your turns and jumps will do that magical *click that we all grind so tirelessly for. I as a female dancer was naturally talented in allegro! You will learn how to get those hips in the air and find BALLON, most of my training and professional career I jumped with the boys! I am also here for any Ballerina or Male Ballet Dancer that is in a position with questions on how to make a cover letter, CV, audition video, how to approach a company and contact them, and any questions further I’m here to help!:)

I took many lessons from Emily when she was teaching in NYC. She was the best teacher I found in my 15 years of dancing. Her sheer knowledge of dance is inspiring to say the least. Not only did my technique and physique improve double but I actually enjoyed (whereas I have dreaded going to many classes:p) going to class because of Emily’s ability to be super fun and kick your butt at the same time.
I recommend anyone looking to significantly improve their skillset start learning from Emily immediately!
