Hey! I am a professional concert saxophonist with 10+ years of teaching experience. Throughout my career, I have played on many international stages with world-renowned artists including Tommy Smith, Arno Bornkamp, Wynton Marsalis and many more. Currently, I am residing in Glasgow and I am looking forward to share my expertise and passion for the instrument with you! Teaching saxophone isn't just a profession for me; it's a passion and a calling. Drawing from my experience as a professional saxophonist, I've crafted an approach that inspires confidence and fosters growth in each of my students. In our lessons, I prioritise creating an immersive and engaging learning environment. Typically, I offer lessons that run for about 60 to 90 minutes — an optimal duration that allows us to delve deep into the material while maintaining focus and energy. Throughout our time together, I will weave together a variety of activities, exercises, and resources to keep the learning experience dynamic and enjoyable. As a graduate of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and an ABRSM Scholar with a background in performance and education, I bring both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise to the table. Whether you're a beginner eager to explore the vast world of saxophone or an advanced player looking to refine your technique, my lessons are tailored to meet your individual goals and aspirations. I firmly believe that music has the power to enrich our lives and bring people together, and teaching saxophone allows me to share that joy and passion with others. Perfect! After a few weeks of self-teaching saxophone, Ivan helped strip things back to the fundamentals in a way that immediately made sense. The one-hour session flew by, and his clear explanations and attention to detail were exactly what I needed to properly understand the basics.
He corrected my embouchure, breathing and finger positioning, which made an immediate difference. I left the session feeling much more confident in what I should be focusing on.
I’d recommend him to anyone starting out or trying to build a solid foundation, and I’m looking forward to continuing to develop my playing with his guidance.Perfect! Brilliant. Recommended any time

Ivan is a fantastic tutor, as he is easy going and really knowledgeable. He is very accessible and has a way of making difficult things, easy to understand. He speaks clearly and slowly and is very patient without being patronising. I find social things like this, can be quite scary. But Ivan instantly put me at ease, and we had a great time. I highly recommend Ivan, he is the epic sax guy!
Ivan is incredibly relaxed and clearly very knowledgeable. Far more than I can comprehend. It makes for good learning for me as he's always able to give me nuggets of wisdom. I always feel better educated after lessons with him.
