I want to teach because I enjoy helping others understand things that once felt confusing. Geography can be challenging, and I find it really rewarding to see students grow in confidence and start to make connections for themselves. I take a supportive and structured approach to tutoring, focusing on helping students truly understand concepts rather than just memorising content. I break down complex geographic ideas into simple, clear explanations and use real-world examples to make topics more engaging and easier to remember.
I also tailor my teaching to each student’s learning style, whether that’s visual diagrams, practice questions, or discussion-based learning.
My lessons are typically around 45–60 minutes, which allows enough time to go over content, work through examples, and practise exam-style questions without overwhelming the student.
As a Year 13 student who achieved an NCEA Scholarship in Geography in Year 12, I have a strong understanding of both the content and exam techniques needed to succeed. I’m familiar with the NCEA system, including internals and externals, and can help students improve their writing, structure, and analytical skills.
My lessons are best suited for NCEA Level 1–2 and 3 Geography students who want to build confidence, improve their grades, or strengthen their understanding of key concepts.
