About Carmen
In my position as Teacher at DPS, Case Manager at ROSS IES and Associate Program Director at the Coleman A. Young II Educational Foundation I research, plan, develop and implement STEM programs for high school and middle school students, develop and approve budgets and operations. I develop partnerships with school boards and individual schools and administrators. In my position as case manager, I was responsible for approximately 200 clients that are enrolled in the DWDD (Detroit Workforce Development Department) program in compliance with DHS (Department of Human Services) which helps individuals that are on government assistance become self-sufficient and those that are unemployed get back into the workforce. I have the responsibility of training the clients in job skills, computer skills and career development. I’m responsible for reviewing cases daily and submitting status reports weekly. In the position of regional manager for Educate Inc, (Catapult Online) an online tutorial company, I managed and tracked 500 student accounts, in which I assessed the individual needs of each student, individual schools and school districts. I partnered with school administrators to meet each school’s needs, in order to achieve federal and state requirements of adequate yearly progress. I developed strategies with school districts, superintendents, administrators and teachers to ensure the current and future school district needs. My responsibilities included but are not limited to conducting workshops, in-services and training for students, parents, and administrators.
