About Sophie
Currently in the process of career transition, I am embarking on a freelance career as a French as a Foreign Language (FLE) teacher.
I recently obtained online certificates from the CAVILAM Alliance Française MOOC (Discovery and Advanced pathways) for this purpose. With a Master's degree in Socio-cultural Animation and Lifelong Education, as well as two years of voluntary experience in France, I am eager to start my professional journey while continuing to enhance my skills through continuous education.
After working as a media education facilitator, and following the Covid crisis in 2020, I went to France to experience an international Mindfulness center (Le Village des Pruniers). There, I deepened my resilience and ability to live in an intercultural community in a rapidly changing world.
For nearly two years, I wore various linguistic hats to support the needs of the center: serving as an interpreter and translator from English to French for the Francophone retreat community, and teaching French as a foreign language to international long-term volunteers at the center. It was through this last experience that I found the most fulfillment. Empowering learners, fostering intercultural exchange, applying my creativity, and sharing my native language are aspects that truly excite me.
I must mention that I have been passionate about languages from an early age, being curious and open to other cultures. I have also taken numerous immersive language courses and traveled to various regions of the world. Furthermore, I have a multicultural background myself, being half Greek on my father's side, which sensitizes me to the importance of language for positive sociocultural and socioeconomic integration.

First and foremost, I enjoy bringing joy and good humor into my classroom. What matters most is that we have a good time together. Creating a trusting atmosphere between the teacher and the learners, as well as among the learners themselves, is key to fostering a positive and effective learning environment.
I infuse my lessons with creativity, building around a framework of learning to ensure that my classes meet the real needs and objectives of the learners. I'm not afraid to improvise and adapt my lessons during each session to ensure their effectiveness. I pay attention to the needs and different learning styles of each student so that everyone can flourish in their own way during their learning journey.
My starting point is my classroom, my group of learners, around which I develop a program that is tailored to everyone's needs. Depending on the conditions and the learners' reality, I do my best to empower them to become autonomous in their learning, so they can confidently continue to develop their language skills outside the classroom.
