About Emily
I love to teach because I love to learn and I love to see how students grow gradually in skills and confidence. Il faut tous cultiver notre jardin! I am also a mother to two young children and find it interesting to see how parenting relates to working in education. I am a native English speaker from Edinburgh, with both British and Swedish heritage. I am also fluent in French and practise art and music as much as I can in my limited spare time.

With a Master's in Secondary Education from the Sorbonne and a degree in French & English Literature from the University of Edinburgh, I am a fully licensed English teacher in both France and England. My diverse teaching background ranges from university students to refugees, giving me unique insight into a variety of learning needs. I have extensive experience with the International Baccalaureate, French Baccalaureate (and Brevet), and IGCSEs. Unlike traditional classroom settings, my private tutoring is completely tailored to your individual needs and interests, beginning with a personal assessment. I believe in making learning engaging and relevant. While I love literature, the content of my language classes is as varied as the scope of the English language! Although I love working on Literature, English is of course used in all manner of contexts. I enjoy teaching classes based around content that touches upon pressing issues in our international, national and local societies, which we can use to practise different language skills, stimulate interesting debate and discussion, grapple with the nuances of vocabulary as well as express ideas diplomatically. Let's move beyond exam pressure and cultivate a genuine love for English, building pride in your work and observations. Ready to unlock your potential? I look forward to hearing from you!
