Sorry I am fully booked and I am not taking new students anymore.
My lessons includes a balance of theory and practical approaches. Example of topics included in lesson: music reading, playing techniques, embouchure, breath control, phrases shaping, emotions approaches, articulations, fingering techniques, musicianship skills, music history and everything else you need to know in order to play the flute.
As an orchestral instrument, playing flute is not only about playing it alone, but ensemble techniques are important too, ensemble tips and listening tricks is included as a part of her teaching routine. My passion in music education, especially in flute teaching urge me to adjust the way of delivering based on student’s background and progression. For example, it will be stress free for working adult; a step by step approach for kids; and a strict/detailed approach for music major students.
There are 4 levels in my flute lesson: (1) Beginner : Grade 0 – 2; (2) Intermediate : Grade 3 – 5; (3) Advanced : Grade 6 – 8; (4) Diploma : DipABRSM/ARSM/LRSM/FRSM/ATCL/LTCL/FTCL. These grading are based on UK examination board system, different rate of fee applied for different levels.

Ms Chew is very passionate about her teaching, she always teach everything step by step and make sure I understand all the topics. I really appreciate her patience while dealing with me, an adult learner with no musical background. Its been a year since I started my flute lesson with Ms Chew, now I can play grade 2 exam pieces, wow! We had physical lessons initially but shift to online because of the pandemic.
Miss Chew is my son’s flute teacher since he was 10, throughout the years I can see my son progressing well in his playing. I don’t have to worry about his music homework because Miss Chew trained him to be independent and to have self-discipline in completing his tasks. I am very grateful to found a good teacher like her. As a result from her guidance, my son can handle all the music he has to play in his school orchestra and ensemble.
