About Jo
I am a passionate Flute teacher with over 8 years of teaching experience. I work with School students, College students, and working professionals who want to learn flute for education, performance, or personal enjoyment.
My teaching approach is clear and student-focused. I begin with basics such as posture, breath support, finger placement, and tone control. As students improve, I introduce scales, rhythm exercises, and musical pieces to develop expression.
I believe strong communication helps students learn effectively. I explain concepts in simple language and provide demonstrations. Accountability is maintained through regular practice plans and progress reviews. I teach with integrity by giving honest feedback and positive encouragement.
Along with flute lessons, I also teach music theory, notation reading, rhythm exercises, and performance preparation. I support students in exam readiness and stage performance.
My unique strength is my calm and patient teaching style. I adapt lessons for different age groups and busy professional schedules, ensuring steady improvement for every learner.

I teach flute using a methodology centred on Communication, Creativity, and Flexibility, designed to foster both skill and expression. I focus on understanding each student’s background, goals, and learning preferences. Through clear communication, I explain techniques such as breathing, articulation, finger positioning, and musical phrasing in a step-by-step manner, ensuring students feel confident and supported throughout their learning.
Creativity is encouraged in every lesson. I motivate students to explore different musical styles, improvise, and compose short pieces. This approach develops not only technical skills but also artistic expression. Flexibility allows me to adapt lessons according to the student’s progress, interests, and challenges, ensuring that every session is personalised and effective.
In addition to flute instruction, I incorporate music theory, sight-reading, rhythm, and listening exercises to create a strong foundation in musicianship. My approach ensures students develop technical mastery, expressive ability, and a genuine passion for music, preparing them for both personal enjoyment and performance opportunities.
