About Sam
I’m Sam, a medical doctor from South Africa, now doing my master’s in Child and Adolescent Mental Health at King’s College London as a Commonwealth Scholar. I studied medicine at the University of Cape Town and have worked in several areas of medicine, including a year in paediatrics.
I really enjoy teaching and working with children, and paediatrics has always been a particular passion of mine. I have previous experience tutoring and au pairing across different age groups, and I love helping someone understand something they’ve been struggling with and seeing their confidence grow.
Having spent many years studying, I know what it’s like to have a lot to learn and not always know where to start, which is where I’d like to help. Whether you’re at school or studying medicine, I want you to feel comfortable asking questions, build confidence in your abilities and feel less stressed about your studies.

I like to start by finding out what you’re struggling with and what you’d like help with. We can work through tricky topics, tackle homework or prepare for exams, taking time to explain things clearly and practise together. I provide encouragement and want you to feel comfortable asking questions, even if we need to go over something multiple times.
I teach maths, science and English to primary and secondary school pupils up to GCSE level, and offer medical students help with their coursework and revision. With medical students, I draw on my clinical experience to help make sense of the theory and relate it to real situations.
I’m a qualified medical doctor with previous tutoring and au pairing experience across different age groups. Lessons can be structured according to pupils needs and preferences, depending on what works best for you.
