About Jocie
With a background in Chinese Studies and years of experience teaching Singapore primary and secondary school Chinese, I believe that learning Chinese goes beyond mastering answering techniques. A strong foundation in vocabulary recognition and comprehension is key to long-term improvement.
My students have consistently improved by 1 to 3 grades within just 3 months of tutoring. Through years of teaching, I have found that one of the biggest struggles students face is recognizing and retaining Chinese vocabulary.
Instead of relying on repetitive spelling practices like every other tutor and tuition center, I use quizzes and active recall techniques to strengthen vocabulary retention. Inspired by the Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve, my lessons incorporate retrieval practice and spaced repetition to help students remember and apply what they learn more effectively.
My goal is not just to improve grades, but to help students build confidence and develop a stronger foundation in Chinese for the long run.
