Stats related subjects aren’t the easiest ones to get through, and if you’re coming into a compulsory math/stats unit without much of a math background it could very well look like you’re trying to learn a foreign language. The fact that it all builds on earlier topics covered, means that by a couple of weeks in, you could be feeling left quite behind very quickly. And not only that, a lot of seemingly unrelated fields like psychology or marketing require an understanding of statistics and math that probably wasn't expected. The good news is that by breaking it down and explaining it in a way that makes sense for anyone (regardless of prior math experience), what was once very intimidating now doesn’t seem that difficult at all! As a tutor with over 7 years of experience helping students achieve the marks and understanding they desire, I'm able to help busy students get on top of their material as stress free as possible. During my time studying some very difficult units, I found summarizing my notes with flow charts and breaking problems down into small steps helped greatly. And I’ve found that helping students with this technique really translates well with tutoring. It helps students greatly in understanding the fundamentals of the material and accelerates the progress, cutting back on the frustrating hours being spent trying to learn it solo. A recent focus of my tutoring has been on helping undergraduate and postgrad students in biostatistics, mostly for public health units. My main strength as a tutor lies in the fact that I’m very patient with students and I can explain the concepts from different angles until it sinks in. I’m a problem solver that likes to break down a concept and explain it as simply as possible. Perfect! I have had three tutoring sessions with Jon, and he is hands down brilliant! Friendly, approachable and an expert in the field of Epidemiology. As a complete novice, Jon has put me at ease and helped explain concepts I was struggling with. Perfect! I've been struggling with Epidemiology and Biostatistics throughout my university journey. There were no tutors in my area or ones who understood the unit.
Until I found Jon. I love how patient he is with me, I've always struggled with numbers and maths in general. I was quite nervous and wasn't expecting anything long-term to come from my lessons with Jon, simply because I lacked confidence and thought that I still wouldn't understand, even with help. Jon was very kind from the first meeting, he took the time to assess the situation, what I needed help with, and what would benefit me.
His explanation is very clear and detailed. When I tell him that I don't understand, he goes back and explains it again, using a different approach. I think this is very important because people learn in many different ways, and for a tutor to be willing to try those different methods to help their student understand a concept better, is honestly the best.
I would highly recommend Jon to any and everyone! His work ethic, skill, knowledge, and most importantly, his patience and understanding are what make the lessons worthwhile for me. Now, I feel a lot more confident in myself and my capability. I never used to talk much in my classes, however, since I started with Jon, I now answer questions and contribute to class discussions and that is honestly the best thing I could've ever asked for!

I’m so thankful to have Jon during my engineering studies. His really knowledgeable and always right without having to verify his solutions. His patience and pace of teaching made things super easy to understand. I’ll be keeping Jon as my tutor through my whole degree.
Jon tutored me for my quantitative data unit at Curtin University as part of my MPH. After sitting my first test and only just scraping by with a pass I decided I needed help. And that was Jon! I have not got a strong maths background, and Jon was very kind, understanding and worked around my limited maths knowledge.
I was super stressed by this unit, however knowing I could see Jon weekly to work through things was a huge help, took the stress off and I started to relax and enjoy the unit (and learn enough to help others!)
My only regret was not finding Jon till I had sat my first test.
I would recommend Jon as a tutor to anyone who needs some support. He was always reliable and made time to see me, and was very flexible. I really appreciated all of his help!Jon is by far the BEST tutor I've ever had. He tutored me in a statistics unit, I started with little knowledge and within a few sessions I became super confident in my ability to nail the content he taught me. He is friendly and willing to put in the extra work to make sure you get what you need. He is understanding and kind with a great sense of humour that encouraged me to keep persevering in a tough unit. Jon summarised and simplified difficult content and tailored his teaching style to my learning needs. Would 10/10 recommend him to anyone I know.

Jon is an incredible tutor and I would highly recommend him. He has helped me throughout my 2-3yr of psychology especially in stats. Jon breaks down and explains concepts/structure very well helping me get a HD in my unit! He also is amazing with feedback on all my assignments! Couldn’t recommend him enough!!
