About Afonso
My name is Afonso, and I attend the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto, in order to complete the Integrated Masters in Architecture.
I come from the beautiful and pleasant city of Guimarães, and spent my high school years in Dakar, Senegal, where I acquired my secondary education through the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme, supervised by the likewise named organization (IBO), which many international schools around the world teach. As such, I have a level of English that is close to native, through these four years of teaching.
I am interested in history, having also focused on that subject in IB. Other interests of mine include aquariums, art and design, architecture and town planning (it would be bad if I didn't!), gardening, and recreational cycling.

English classes are taught exclusively using the English language, using Portuguese only as a last resort, or for the occasional translation.
Strong focus on practical language teaching, where speech training and correct pronunciation take precedence , as well as listening comprehension. Teaching grammar rules as a foundation for an intuitive understanding of the language.
I teach at any level, except specialisations (scientific, commercial, etc).
History classes with a strong visual component, using chronological diagrams, maps, in order to build a strong mental notion of historical progression.
Geography classes that address the topics covered in their school iterations, both their physical and human components.
I teach any level up to secondary (included) in both cases.
