About Anna
I am studying Irish and Business teaching in MIC. I want to teach Irish to show you that it is more than a school subject behind the classroom - is teanga bheo í. When students understand that Irish is a living language this helps to boost engagement and increases their confidence in the language. Oftentimes students get disheartened when it comes to Irish but I want to show students that they CAN succeed. Through my structured approach, they will come out of my lessons not only feeling exam ready, but with greater confidence in their language abilities.

I believe speaking Gaeilge during the class is very important in order to improve students confidence with spoken Irish for the LC oral exam. This will also help to enhance listening skills. Regarding grammar I put what we learn into practice through games and activities to ensure understanding of topics. My approach to the «litríocht » section is to ensure students understand the plot of the story through active recall. This can therefore be used to form the basis of most exam questions. We will walk through sample answers and compose them together so students can actually understand and retain the information. Adding píosa beag spraoi or a bit of fun to my lessons while also ensuring students are exam ready is my main goal.
