About Emily
Hi there! I'm Emily, a calm but enthusiastic learning support worker ready to help you (or your children) feel confident and capable in the subjects you're struggling with. Helping everyone feel included and empowered in education has always been a passion of mine. With 2+ years in the education sector as a Teaching Assistant focusing on children with SEND, SEMH, and learning difficulties, I have a great level of experience understanding what they need to help the tricky subject 'click'! During my time as a 2nd year Marine Biology and Oceanography student, I held a job as a Peer-Assisted-Learning-Scheme (PALS) Leader. This involved planning and facilitating workshops for a group of 25 1st year students studying the same course. Before that, I was a Mentor for Biology as an A-Level student for AS-level students that were not meeting their targets.

Finding new ways to help people learn and understand topics they find difficult has always been my speciality, even whilst I was still in school myself as an A-level Mentor and as a Peer Assisted Learning Scheme (PALS) Leader at Plymouth University. With 2 years' experience as a Primary Teaching Assistant and 1-1 SEND learning support worker, I have an excellent level of understanding how to adapt the work and re-describe the topic in a way that makes sense to the learner. From Autism to ADHD to SEMH to learning difficulties, I have a good track record of improving academic and emotional development. Reading, Writing, English language, Maths and Science are my core subjects.
