About Nikki
Hello my name is Nikki. I graduated from the University of Toronto in 2020. I have an honours Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Biology and Psychology. My gpa in my last year was above a 3.5/4.0. I am currently completing my masters of teaching. I used to play the violin for over a decade, and completed my grade 7 RCM. I am CPR- C certified and have completed my Ontario workplace and safety training as well as a vulnerable screening check.

when I teach any student, my main objectives include teaching students the five W's: what are we learning about? why are we learning this topic/ why is it important? where can this information be applied? who is involved (eg: key stakeholders and organizations, etc.) Ifirst assess students on their current understandingof the topic and see where they may have gaps in their understanding. I then like to tailor my lessons to address these "gaps".I use a variety of teaching strategies from diagrams and videos, to written and oral descriptions of concepts and more to address all learners needs and learning styles. once the student can demonstrate to me that they have gained a better understanding, I have them demonstrate by having them solve practice problems, describe the concept /"teach" the topic to me. I also have students engage in self-reflections so that they can start to think about what they know and where they would like to improve next. this helps students to become confident, independent life-long learners. I truly believe that all students can learn anything with the right mindset and guidance. my preferred grades are middle school- high school (7-10) however I also have knowledge in upper-level sciences (biology) for grades 11 and 12 biology and social sciences, as well as math from grades 1-9.
