About David
I am a life long New Yorker, a homeschooling father and proud son of two Puerto Rican parents who did everything to set my sister and I up for a successful life.
I started teaching in 2012, my first ever job working with students was with a summer camp called UrbanStages. Fast forward 10 years later to 2022 - during the past decade I've worked in schools all across NYC, spent 6 years teaching in two different Charter Schools, launched the first-ever Spoken Word Poetry programs in these schools, and had my first child (a beautiful Puerto Rican daughter named Oanni).
I've helped young students find their voice through poetry and storytelling. I've helped adult learners find their confidence by telling their own life story through writing. This is what I do - let's work!

For years I have helped learners in different schools, libraries and camps sharpen their writing skills.
I specialize in creative writing (looking at you, storytellers), poetry, Spoken-Word / Slam poetry (been in the Slam Poetry game since I was 19 - check me on YouTube), essay writing, and reading comprehension.
If you/a young person you know just need a little help cleaning up your grammar and punctuation, or basic things like proper email composition, we can definitely do that too. I can adapt to fit your needs.
I design my sessions for middle schoolers (6th-8th), high schoolers and adult learners. All lessons are conducted virtually. I love the moment when a learner "gets it", and I hope to have that moment with you or a person you know.
