About Calun

Hi, I’m Calun, a third-year Politics and International Relations student at the University of the West of England. I’m passionate about helping students unlock their potential and achieve the academic success they deserve.

My academic journey includes a notable internship at the House of Commons and a year abroad in the Netherlands as part of the Erasmus programme. These experiences have given me unique insights into politics, international affairs, and global education systems, which I bring into my tutoring. I don’t just teach the subject—I connect theory to real-world events, making learning engaging and relevant.

As Chancellor of the Politics Society and President of the History Society, I’ve developed strong leadership, mentoring, and public speaking skills. I’ve worked with diverse groups, helping them build confidence, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of complex topics.

Why Work With Me?
• Real-World Insights: My internship and global experiences go beyond textbooks.
• Global Perspective: Erasmus taught me adaptability and the value of diverse viewpoints.
• Proven Leadership: I inspire and guide students to achieve their goals.
• Tailored Approach: Lessons are interactive, engaging, and designed for your needs.

What I Offer
• Tuition in Politics, International Relations, Sociology, History, and Geography.
• Exam and Essay Support: Master techniques to excel in assessments.
• Current Affairs Insights: Understand how global events connect to your studies.
• A Supportive Environment: I’m here to answer questions, clarify concepts, and build your confidence.

About the lesson

I believe learning should be engaging, interactive, and tailored to your unique goals and learning style. My teaching methodology focuses on:

• Conceptual Understanding: Breaking down complex theories, events, and ideas into digestible, relatable concepts.
• Critical Thinking: Encouraging you to analyse different perspectives and develop well-reasoned arguments—essential for essays and exams.
• Real-World Applications: Connecting theory to current events and real-world scenarios to make learning relevant and interesting.
• Interactive Learning: Using discussions, debates, and problem-solving activities to keep you engaged and actively participating.
• Exam Preparation: Providing tailored support for exam techniques, essay structuring, and revision strategies to help you achieve top grades.

Typical Length of a Lesson
Each lesson typically lasts 60 minutes, but I also offer 90-minute sessions for more in-depth coverage or exam preparation. I’m flexible and can adjust the length and frequency of lessons to suit your schedule and needs.

My Qualifications and Experience
• Currently pursuing a BA (Hons) in Politics and International Relations at the University of the West of England.
• 2 years of tutoring experience, working with students at various levels, from GCSE and A-Level to undergraduates and adult learners.
• A strong academic background in interdisciplinary subjects, allowing me to provide a holistic understanding of Politics, International Relations, Sociology, History, and Geography.

My lessons are designed for:
• Secondary School Students: GCSE and A-Level students studying Politics, Sociology, History, or Geography.
• University Students: Undergraduates studying Politics, International Relations, or related disciplines.
• Adult Learners: Anyone looking to expand their knowledge or pursue further education in these subjects.
• Exam Candidates: Students preparing for entrance exams, university applications, or professional qualifications.

Whether you’re struggling with essay writing, need help understanding complex theories, or want to deepen your knowledge, I’m here to help you succeed.
