About Mandisa

Title: 4th-Year B.Ed Student Specializing in Intermediate Phase Math & Social Sciences.
About Me: Hi! I am a final-year Bachelor of Education (Intermediate Phase) student majoring in Mathematics and Social Sciences. I specialize in helping learners who find math intimidating, frustrating, or difficult. Because I personally took an extended academic bridging path to master Mathematics at a university level, I understand exactly where learners get stuck. I know how to break down complex concepts into simple, stress-free steps. My goal is to build your child's confidence and help them see that anyone can succeed at math with the right guidance! My Teaching Style & Availability: Because I am currently completing practical shift rotations for my degree, my live teaching calendar changes weekly. I keep my digital calendar fully updated 30 days in advance. You can easily book slots that perfectly fit your schedule on my open days, including weekday mornings (ideal for homeschoolers) and weekends!

My Approach & Methodology (What Makes Me Unique)My teaching philosophy is built on empathy, patience, and real-world resilience. I understand exactly what it feels like to struggle with a subject because I personally took an extended academic bridging path to master Mathematics at a tertiary level. This journey transformed the way I view education; I do not just teach formulas, I teach confidence. As a final-year Bachelor of Education (Intermediate Phase) student, my approach is highly diagnostic. I meet learners at their current level of understanding, break down intimidating concepts into small, stress-free steps, and create a safe environment where making mistakes is welcomed as a natural part of the learning process.Languages of InstructionI am fully proficient and comfortable conducting my lessons in:English (Primary language of instruction for core subjects)isiZulu (Available to provide code-switching and conceptual explanations for home-language speakers who struggle to grasp English textbook terms)What to Expect From a Typical LessonEvery lesson is structured to be engaging, interactive, and goal-oriented. A standard 60-minute session includes:The Warm-Up (5–10 mins): A quick, low-pressure review of the previous lesson or a confidence-boosting game to get the student into a focused mindset.Concept Breakdown (20 mins): Introducing the core topic (e.g., fractions or social science timelines) using visual aids, digital whiteboards, and practical, everyday examples.Guided Practice (20 mins): Working through curriculum problems together step-by-step, ensuring the student actively drives the problem-solving process.Wrap-Up & Feedback (10 mins): Summarizing what was learned, addressing remaining doubts, and setting a small, manageable target for the week.Target Students (Learning Level & Specificities)My lessons are specifically designed for Intermediate Phase Learners (Grades 4 to 6). I specialize in helping:Students transitioning from Foundation Phase who find the sudden increase in Mathematics complexity overwhelming.Learners requiring specialized assistance in Mathematics and Social Sciences (History and Geography) aligned with the CAPS curriculum.Homeschooled learners who need structured, clear morning instruction.Students who lack academic confidence and require an empathetic mentor to help them overcome test anxiety and improve their school marks.
