About Rachel
I am a dedicated Biology tutor with over 6 years of experience teaching students from GCSE through to university level. Over this time, I have helped learners build a strong understanding of biological concepts while improving their confidence, analytical skills, and exam performance.
I specialise in breaking down complex topics such as cell biology, genetics, human physiology, ecology, and biochemistry into clear, structured, and easy-to-understand explanations. My teaching approach is patient, supportive, and results-focused, ensuring each student receives personalised guidance based on their individual needs and learning style.
Throughout my career, I have supported many students in improving their grades and developing a deeper appreciation for Biology. I focus on helping students understand the “why” behind biological processes rather than just memorising facts, which leads to stronger long-term retention and better application in exams.

My Biology lessons are structured, engaging, and tailored to each student’s level, from GCSE through to university. I focus on building a strong conceptual understanding of Biology rather than relying on memorisation, helping students clearly understand how biological systems connect and function as a whole. My aim is to make Biology logical, approachable, and easier to apply in both exams and real-world contexts.
Each lesson is personalised to the student’s needs and learning pace. I begin by identifying strengths and areas for improvement, then design a focused plan to ensure consistent and measurable progress. Lessons include clear, step-by-step explanations of key topics such as cell biology, genetics, human physiology, ecology, and biochemistry. Complex ideas are broken down into simple, manageable parts to ensure full understanding.
A strong focus is placed on exam preparation and technique. I use past paper and exam-style questions to familiarise students with question formats, marking schemes, and how to structure high-scoring answers. This helps improve accuracy, time management, and confidence under exam conditions. I also highlight common mistakes and show students how to avoid them effectively.
In addition, I develop essential scientific skills such as data analysis, experimental interpretation, and critical thinking, which are important for higher-level Biology. Revision strategies, active recall methods, and regular feedback are also included to support long-term retention.
