About Gerhard
I am a guitar player and composer with a BFA Hons in Music Composition & Performance. I've been playing guitar and music for 15 years in bands, orchestras, choirs, and various ensembles from solo performances to opening for groups such as MGMT, Monster Truck and Mother Mother! The genres I'm most at home in are rock, metal, folk, indie, blues, pop and Flamenco, however I also have a background playing world music such as Flamenco, Klezmer, Balkan folk, and celtic, on guitar and baglama. I currently play in several regularly gigging bands - Rubehill & Texas Dirty.
I have also written and recorded soundtracks for Netflix, TIFF, Sundance, and plenty more movies, shows, and documentaries!

I'm very open minded and like to cater my classes to each students wants and needs and do my best to make it as interesting, fun and engaging as possible. I don't believe music should technically be taught by the book and like to personalize lessons in terms of the songs and styles of each student, however I DO like using certain books to help students instill certain fundamental skills such as reading, rhythm comprehension, rudiments and theory. We're guitar players but we're also musicians!
