About Noaman
Hi, I’m Noaman.
I studied History at the University of Glasgow, including a year abroad at the University of Alabama, before converting to law. I subsequently completed the PGDL and LLM Legal Practice (SQE) at the University of Law, and recently passed both SQE1 and SQE2.
I’m now a second-year trainee solicitor and have worked across Corporate, Commercial Disputes, Corporate Tax, and Financial Services & Funds. That practical experience means I can help connect the black-letter law to the way it actually operates in practice.
I’ll be honest: the SQE was the hardest assessment I have done by some distance. I sat it while being diagnosed with ADHD, which forced me to think carefully about how to study efficiently when attention and motivation are not always consistent. It was stressful at the time, but ultimately very rewarding, and it taught me a great deal about how to turn a very large syllabus into something manageable, understandable and applicable under exam conditions.

Who this is for
I take on a small number of students each SQE cycle - usually 1-3 due to the demands of being a trainee, and I prefer to work with people over months rather than for one-off sessions, so I'd rather do a few properly than many superficially.
If I take you on, you can expect real engagement: a plan with goals, regular check-ins on progress, and involvement in how you're studying, not just what (and I will chase you with a slipper if needed so you don't fall behind!),
How I teach
My approach is bespoke to you and built around one question: why. Why does this rule exist, what problem does it solve, and how does it fit the bigger structure? When you understand that, the law stops being a list of things to memorise and starts to feel intuitive. Even the most complex areas can start to look like common sense, and the detail becomes far easier to remember because it finally has somewhere to sit.
Textbooks are good at telling you the rules; they're less good at building understanding. That matters because the SQE is an application exam. Knowing the law isn't enough. You have to apply it consistently to unfamiliar facts under time pressure, and that only works if you understand the concept underneath it. My sessions are semi-Socratic: I'll ask before I explain, and we'll work through problems together rather than me lecturing at you.
How it works
We start by agreeing what you want from tutoring and building a study plan and revision calendar around it: milestones for content, weekly SBAQ targets, and a running log of your scores and the questions you got wrong, so we can see exactly where the gaps are.
I don't generally lecture a topic from scratch; it isn't the best use of your money or your time. Before each session you do the reading and tell me which areas you're unsure about. I'll send you a worked scenario with a series of questions to attempt closed-book. That's the diagnostic. The session is then a quick overview of the topic and a deep dive into your weak points, whether they're gaps in knowledge or in understanding, until they make sense.
Most of what you read will stick without needing to be explained; my job is to fix the parts that don't. I will teach a whole topic from the ground up where it's genuinely needed, but the expectation is that you come to each session prepared, so the time is spent where it counts.

To get you into the best possible position to pass the SQE as efficiently as possible, and to leave you with a way of thinking about the law that carries into practice.
