About Luke
A bit about me...
Specifically, my interests are in the etiology (cause) of diseases and how they manifest over time, particularly those with a genetic component or those affecting the central nervous system. I am equally interested in the array of exciting new medicines on the horizon that are geared towards reducing patient burden or even curing said diseases. For example, the development of antibody-drug conjugates for the treatment of various metastatic cancers.
I studied neuroscience at the University of Nottingham (BSc - 1st class honours) and went on to complete a masters in the genetics of human disease at UCL (MSc - distinction). I have experience in a research setting both during my degree research projects and after having been employed as a temporary researcher at the University of Nottingham. For the past 2 years, I have been working as a patent attorney (part-qualified) helping to protect innovation in the Life Sciences space. I have successfully patented inventions relating to, for example, synergistic combinations of anti-cancer drugs, needle-less injection delivery devices and novel therapeutic antibodies.
Besides academia, I love to sail and scuba dive - I am a licensed skipper and often sail with friends on a 47' ketch!

Hello,
In our first session, I would aim to have a solid grasp of the student's ability, knowledge of the subject and areas in need of improvement. This can be achieved by asking the student and through setting him/her various questions or a past paper. Once at least several areas of weakness have been established, lessons plans can more accurately be prepared and the real teaching can begin! Sessions should be at least 45 minutes to an hour in duration.
I welcome students of all ages and abilities up to degree level.
