About Isabelle
Hi, my name's Isabelle and I'm a second year Liberal Arts student at the University of Warwick. After previous experience being a tutor and a mentor, I am committed to helping and guiding students with their education and making them see the fun side to school too! At school, I really enjoyed studying English. I have always had an interest in English from primary school where I always joined in the extra English club. At sixth form, I attended and presented at Literature Society and I attended Pre-University English Seminars to broaden my skills and knowledge. At A Level, I achieved 4 A*s In English Literature, Religious Studies, Economics and an Extended Project Qualification and I studied Maths in Year 12. At GCSE, I achieved 9 grade 9s and 8s and a B in the Free Standing Maths Qualification. My grade 9s were in English Literature, English Language, Maths and History. I feel as though I have a lot of expertise in exam technique and revision skills to help you excel and get the best grades possible for you. I was also tutored as a child to pass the 11+ (which I did and attended a grammar school) and to be pushed beyond my primary school education. Having a tutor explain topics to me in a way that made sense to me made the subject so much more engaging and enjoyable. The friends that I have tutored were successful in their 11+ exams and now attend various grammar schools and my friends that I tutored and advised for GCSE English were able to boost their grades from a 3 to a 7 by offering them the best exam technique advice.

Each lesson will have a focus for that week on something the student specifically needs to work on. For example, if this is to include more complex vocabulary in their written work, we will practise exercises and comprehension skills to explore synonyms and target this new skill. This will also be incorporated into exercises that concentrate on the skills learnt from last week. That way, the student is building a toolbox of tools that they can combine together to develop.
Or if the student needs to focus on a particular Assessment Objective (AO) in their work at GCSE or A Level, we can review what needs to be included in this. Highlight where it should occur in their work. How they can practise creating a layered essay that weaves in all the different AOs that the exam board is looking for - this is how you get top marks in essays.
Typical lesson length is 1 hour - but I am flexible for shorter or longer.
I have tutored family friends to help them pass the 11+ and SATS. I have also tutored at GCSE and A Level standard.
Experience teaching in a primary school - basic maths and English skills with young students.
My lessons can range between young primary school age, 11+, Years 7-9, GCSE and A Level.
I have great experience teaching young children, however, I am also very knowledgeable on the best methods of gaining A*s in English at GCSE and A Level and have lots of tips and tricks to help improve grades.
