About David
I remember the process of applying to study Architecture at university being quite difficult to navigate, especially when it came to understanding what universities were looking for in a portfolio and how to prepare for interviews. Having now graduated in Architecture from the University of Cambridge, I would like to make that process clearer and easier for other applicants.
I can support you throughout your Architecture application, whether you are just starting out or preparing for a specific university. This can include reviewing and developing your portfolio, helping with your personal statement and written application, preparing for interviews, and offering advice on the wider university application process.
PORTFOLIO SUPPORT
Portfolio sessions can focus on reviewing your existing work, deciding what to include, improving the presentation and sequence of projects, and helping you communicate your ideas and design thinking more clearly. I can also provide feedback in a tutorial-style format similar to the discussions you can expect at architecture school.
APPLICATION & INTERVIEW SUPPORT
These sessions can focus on strengthening your written application and preparing for Architecture interviews. We can work through practice questions, discuss your portfolio and interests, and help you become more comfortable explaining and defending your ideas.
Sessions can be tailored to where you are in the application process and the universities you are considering.

Each lesson is tailored to where you are in the Architecture application process and what you need help with.
For portfolio sessions, we can review your work together and look at project selection, layout, sequencing, visual presentation and how clearly your ideas come across. I can also give feedback on how you talk about your work, which is especially useful when preparing for interviews.
For application support, I can review personal statements and written responses, help you present your interests in Architecture more clearly, and give feedback on the strength of your application as a whole.
For interview preparation, we can run through practice questions and mock interviews, discuss your portfolio, and work on how you explain your design decisions, influences and ideas with confidence.
