About Esme
I am reading English at Cambridge having studied English Literature, History, Classics and Latin at A Level as well as completing an EPQ. I am committed to becoming a teacher and I have a passion for combing academic and pastoral support to maximise wellbeing and outcomes for students. As a highly successful and effective independent voluntary educator and workshop facilitator, I am a skilled and patient communicator. I have considerable experience working with children and young people of all ages and I have recently completed safe-guarding training and a DBS check. I am also a performance poet with a strong background in theatre.

I am committed to a student-led approach, where the student is supported in taking an active role in directing their own learning, in order to maximise the relevance of my teaching and ensure it is engaging, specific and personalised. I seek to establish what students are struggling with and what kind of support they feel would be most beneficial to them and then work with the student to ensure we are fulfiling those needs together. I also value focusing on students' mental and emotional welfare as an inextricably crucial element of promoting academic attainment and wholly fulfilling individual potential.

Esmé is amazing for all ages when it comes to tutoring. They have a lot of first hand experience with teaching, from giving classes to Y7-9 about mental health; to practising interview sessions for Cambridge. They are extremely passionate in enabling the most out of peoples opportunities; and only wants the best for them. Esmé is caring, kind and attentive, and will be supportive through out. I really recommended you try some classes with Esmé.
I've known Esme for a few years now, and in all that time they have never been anything but friendly, patient, and kind. They're also one of the most intelligent and well-read people I know, and has a great love for both drama and poetry, as well as prose. Esme is always highly enthusiastic about the subjects they study, and is great at giving advice and explanations, making them an ideal tutor!
Esme is such a fun character! Amazing to be around, making anything that’s TOTALLY boring into something you enjoy. She ran an English club a couple of years ago and with out that support, I wouldn’t be the person that is doing so well in English now. I owe a lot to her. She opens her heart to anyone who needs help and she will go out of her way to do her best to help them.
