About Alice
Hi, my name is Alice, and I'm a PhD graduate (and teaching supervisor) in Geography and Social Anthropology from the University of Cambridge. I am currently based in Oxford, where I may be able to tutor in-person.
I have a strong track record of helping students achieve their best, based on seven years working as a private tutor, and two years supervising undergraduates on the Cambridge BA Geography course. I have good knowledge of the A-Level examination structure and system as a whole. I also received first-class marks for all three years of my Cambridge BA, and came 2nd in my cohort of 102 students. As a tutor, I am friendly, patient and engaging. As several of my students have come to me with specific additional learning needs, I am experienced in helping students with ADHD and dyslexia.
Having gained admission to the University of Cambridge from a state school, I also feel both confident and able to assist with the Oxbridge Admissions process for Humanities and Social Science subjects. This extends up to interview advice and practice, personal statement assistance, and guiding you through the application process. If you have any further questions, do feel free to message me. Thank you very much!

Building on my professional experience as a supervisor at the University of Cambridge, my lessons are highly interactive, and build on close reading and feedback of a sample of the student's written work (practice questions, extended essay, etc). The discussion will be open, extend beyond the immediate curriculum wherever beneficial and relevant, and I use an interactive whiteboard tool, which will be emailed to students as a PDF after each lesson for their records, and revision. I assign practice questions after each session, which will be marked and returned to the student before the next class.

Perfect! We have had six sessions with Alice so far, and our experience has been very positive. She is kind and encouraging, while also being appropriately critical and intellectually sharp. She is guiding my child to clarify her thoughts, strengthen her reasoning and express her ideas more precisely. We feel very lucky we have found Alice.
Perfect! Alice helped me organise my thoughts and writing very effectively
Perfect! Yes i would recommend her
Perfect! Alice is a wonderfully engaging geographer. It was obvious within minutes of the lesson that this was a special tutor. We gave a suggested topic to cover at the last minute and she turned up with slides full of densely written notes, a world of difference from the hand waving approach at school. She was full of good advice and encouragement. A rare find. Could not recommend more highly.
Perfect! Very kind and engaging
Perfect! Alice is an incredible tutor. She helped me work on my dissertation very efficiently and realistically given the time constraints I had. She always gave me very thorough feedback without any judgement.
Perfect! Tutoring for the United States - Great Experience
Alice was AMAZING!!!!
She was extremely flexible and kind. Our time zones were flipped and Alice was extremely helpful she stayed until late to help me, which I greatly appreciated. I am from the United States and she helped me to study for my AICE exam, a program used in the states for scholarships. She would give me practice questions and even allowed for two hour sessions! One of the best tutors I have had in a while. She helped me gain so much confidence in the material I was working with. Her sessions were also very engaging as she created notes I could study from and frequently asked me questions about the topic.
Thank you so much Alice!

Alice is a fantastic tutor, full of patience and with deep knowledge of the subjects she teaches. She is an expert in her field with years of experience of tutoring - both privately at home, and in the best universities in the country. She also makes lessons entertaining and rewarding. I highly recommend her!
Alice is a very reliable and thorough tutor who communicates clearly and has a lot of knowledge. She is an expert in her field and is a sure pair of hands when it comes to helping other students to meet their goals. Her lessons are informative but also engaging. I highly recommend her
Alice is strong academic who has helped me with applications and academic tutoring in humanities. Her kind attitudes and approach has led me to enjoy lessons greatly, including developing my proofreading and editing skills too. I highly recommend her in all of these fields and I can attest personally to her professionalism.
I approached Alice requesting some general assistance with my undergrad dissertation. I had most of the research down but was really struggling to condense it into a concise and coherent piece of work. Alice offered some really helpful suggestions and advice, tailored to my specific case, which made the experience much more straightforward and really reduced my stress levels!
