About Zara
I am an Oxford-educated German graduate and enthusiastic Germanist with C1 fluency. My tutoring approach is structured, analytical, and tailored to the individual student. Lessons focus on building a good understanding of grammar, rather than relying on memorisation alone. Students learn how German works at a structural level: cases, verb position, and sentence formation, so they can apply this knowledge confidently in exams and independent writing/speaking.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes and follows three stages: first, consolidation of prior material; second, introduction and explanation of a new concept with guided examples; and third, active practice through exam-style questions, or translation. This ensures students not only understand the material but can use it accurately under exam conditions.
I have a BA in German from the University of Oxford and am fluent at C1 level. I have also worked at a major German educational publishing company, where I wrote and edited German-language learning materials. This provides direct insight into how German is taught and assessed.
Lessons are suitable for GCSE and KS3 students, as well as younger learners and beginners. I work with students aged approximately 11–16.
