About Hans
I am studying a BA in History and Politics at the University of Oxford, having completed my A-Levels (A*A*AA) in 2024. I have always held a passion for the study of humanities, and hold a wide and varied historical knowledge. I remember when I studied at IGCSE and International A-Level, I struggled in a number of fields, from structuring essays and answers, to applying core concepts. Acquainted as I am with such difficulties, and how to overcome them (I achieved A*s in all 8 subjects in my IGCSE examinations) I am able to approach these issues from the student's own perspective, as opposed to the rigidity and rhetoric of 'you should just work harder' which they otherwise often encounter, and only serves to frustrate them. In addition, my experience in debate coaching and delivering international relations and current affairs matter sessions (I was on the Indian national debate team for 5 years, and now assist in selections and coaching), have brought me into contact with a range of different students and teaching requirements, and as such I am able to specialise my delivery to each individual.

I take a student-centred approach to formulating lesson structure, catering to the unique needs of each student, to maximise interest and enjoyment. My primary goal is to spark organic interest in the material so that lessons do not feel like a chore for the student, but something which they enjoy working towards. Lessons can be as long or short as is desired by the student, with the default being an hour each. I have experience teaching secondary school and GCSE/A-Levels age, having helped one of my students get successfully admitted into the University of Oxford. The first lesson will be used to assess which methods work best for the student, whether this be essay planning, source analysis, or lectures.
