About Mackenzie burke
Hello! My name is Mackenzie, and I am currently in my third year of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, working toward my goal of attending pharmacy school. I began my undergraduate studies in engineering before discovering my passion for chemistry and the life sciences, which led me to pursue a path focused on healthcare and scientific problem-solving. This background has given me strong analytical skills and a well-rounded understanding of both math and science.
As a tutor, I understand that many students feel overwhelmed by challenging subjects, and my goal is to make learning clear, approachable, and confidence-building. I strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and working through problems at their own pace. I focus on helping students understand concepts deeply rather than simply memorizing steps, so they can apply their knowledge independently in class and on exams.
My academic experience has strengthened my abilities in mathematics, chemistry, and science-based reasoning, and I enjoy helping middle school and high school students develop strong foundations in these subjects. I am patient, organized, and committed to adapting my teaching style to each student’s individual learning needs.
Whether a student needs help catching up, preparing for tests, or building long-term confidence in math and science, I aim to provide professional, reliable support that makes learning less stressful and more rewarding.

As a tutor, my approach focuses on helping students truly understand concepts rather than memorizing procedures. I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and working through problems step by step. My goal is to build both academic skills and confidence so students become more independent learners over time.
Teaching Methodology and Techniques
I use a student-centered teaching approach that adapts to each learner’s pace, strengths, and learning style. I begin by identifying what a student already understands and where gaps exist, then break complex ideas into smaller, manageable steps. I emphasize conceptual understanding using real-world examples, guided practice, and active problem solving. I also encourage students to explain their reasoning aloud, which strengthens comprehension and critical thinking. Visual aids, diagrams, and structured problem-solving frameworks are frequently used, especially in math and science topics.
Typical Lesson Structure
A typical lesson begins with a short review of previous material or homework questions to reinforce learning and address misconceptions. Next, I introduce or clarify a key concept using examples and discussion. We then work through practice problems together, gradually shifting responsibility to the student as their confidence grows. Lessons end with independent practice or a summary discussion to ensure understanding and identify areas for future focus.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
I focus not only on getting the correct answer but on helping students understand why a solution works. I aim to create a supportive, low-pressure environment where students feel encouraged to participate and ask questions. I also prioritize developing study strategies, organization skills, and problem-solving habits that students can apply beyond tutoring sessions.
Who the Lessons Are For
My tutoring is designed for middle school and high school students studying mathematics and science. I support learners across a range of levels, from students needing foundational reinforcement to those preparing for tests or aiming to strengthen advanced problem-solving skills. Lessons can be tailored to classroom curricula, homework support, exam preparation, or long-term skill development.
