About Amraj

SPECIALIST IN GCSE+A-LEVEL (AQA, OCR, EDEXCEL) & UNIVERSITY SUPPORT: EXAM PREP, ESSAYS & DISSERTATIONS IN PSYCHOLOGY, SOCIOLOGY AND SOCIAL SCIENCES.

I’m a former London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) examiner, class tutor and guest lecturer, and I run a premium practice offering bespoke tutoring and academic coaching, That A+ Feeling. My support programmes draw on evidence-based coaching psychology and are tailored to how each student thinks, feels and learns. I specialise in supporting ADHD, autistic and other neurodivergent students, and work with a very small number of students.

I hold a First Class BSc in Sociology, including Social Psychology (LSE); an MSc in Medical Anthropology and Sociology (cum laude) from the University of Amsterdam; and an MPhil in Sociology, with a £90,000 award-winning project (LSE). My experience also spans leading global institutions, including Westminster City Council in London and AstraZeneca in Cambridge, alongside international research including MSc fieldwork in San Francisco.

Drawing on my psychology and coaching background (including positive psychology and Level 2 Counselling Skills), I create empowering, relationally safe and intellectually rigorous programmes that strengthen focus and reduce overwhelm.

A custom programme is built for you, including:
★ one-to-one sessions combining teaching, discussion & real-time writing, with clear next steps
★ structured practice between sessions with detailed written feedback
★ WhatsApp support throughout the week, so questions never have to wait
★ regular check-in calls to review progress and adjust the plan

My practice, That A+ Feeling, is named after the moment students feel as capable as they actually are. Whether you arrive excited, nervous or overwhelmed, the destination is the same: real understanding, growing independence and steady confidence. You can see that in the reviews below.

Students come to me for essay structure, critical analysis, exam technique, research methods, literature reviews and dissertation writing, from GCSE and A-Level to postgraduate level. For students with ADHD, autism or executive functioning challenges, I break complex tasks into manageable steps without lowering the standard.

Find out more about Amraj

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I have studied Sociology since my A-Level days many years ago, and my passion for the subject has only grown stronger. Three degrees later, I still have an unshakable thirst for knowledge. My interest in Psychology began at the same time and has taken me on a fascinating journey. I studied Social Psychology as part of my BSc, earned a Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills, and gained practical experience working alongside a Business Psychologist for several years.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach and the topics you enjoy discussing with students.

I have taught Classical Sociology at undergraduate level and have developed expertise in the Sociology of Digital Technology, Gender and Sexuality studies, and Medical Sociology. In Psychology, I teach a wide range of topics with a particular interest in Social Psychology and areas of Neuroscience.
  • Did you have any role models or teachers who inspired you?

Yes. Any teacher who made learning enjoyable and accessible left a lasting impression on me. These role models taught me good practice and inspired me to follow in their footsteps.
  • What qualities do you think are essential for a good tutor?

Emotional intelligence, patience, discipline, and kindness. These qualities create an environment where students feel supported and motivated to learn.
  • Share a valuable anecdote from your school days or subject experience.

The lessons that stayed with me were always interactive and engaging. Whether through roleplay or creative methods, these approaches made learning memorable and enjoyable.
  • What challenges have you faced in your subject?

One of the most interesting challenges has been finding the balance between overpreparing and being fully present in the moment. This tension has actually been productive for me. I am very caring and proactive, so I create strong structures and excellent support for my students. At the same time, I allow space for emergence and spontaneity because I value being present during each session. According to my students, this combination makes me an excellent educator.
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general, a specific element of your subject, or something else?

My passion is making the chaos of learning feel manageable. Education should be enjoyable and accessible despite your learning style and how your brain works. I want students to feel confident and empowered rather than overwhelmed.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering these questions)?

I am committed to excellence in my field, but more importantly, I take the pursuit of teaching seriously. Learning is not about repeating facts. It is a collaborative process that requires depth, humility, and creativity. I bring intelligence, structure, and nuance to every session so that students leave feeling inspired and capable.
