About Nicole
I am a seventeen year old violist who started playing at three years old. I play both the violin and viola and have been one of the top 15 violists in the state all four years of high school. I have tutored several kids in my area and have always prioritized helping students to love music as much as I do.

For younger kids I generally focus on their ability to play by ear to develop their musicality. I will play them something and they will try to play it back to me. Once they can recognize the sounds of different notes I teach them to read music and associate the notes on the page with what they hear. My favorite way to speed up this process is with flashcards. This sets them apart when joining a school orchestra. For kids already in orchestra I focus on skills that affect grades and placements within the orchestra. We practice hard spots in their school music and work on any audition or performance songs. I try my best to cater to the student's goals and often use etudes to practice specific skills. I also find scale variations to be crucial to development at any level. for violins I focus on finding clean tone in high notes and for violas I focus on finger placement on such a long finger board.
