About Jay
I am passionate about education and committed to helping students reach their full potential. I understand that each student learns in their own unique way, so I tailor my teaching approach to suit their individual needs. For some, a practical method — using illustrations and real-world examples — helps solidify complex concepts. Others benefit from a more exploratory style, where they are encouraged to find solutions through guided, iterative learning. Above all, I take pride in seeing my students grow in confidence and ability. I am committed to creating an inclusive, engaging, and effective learning environment for every student I work with.

I hold a BSc in Economics from the University of Warwick, graduating with First Class Honours. My areas of expertise are Mathematics and Economics, subjects I am both highly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about. During my time at university, I gained valuable tutoring experience by running a weekly class for a group of eight students. I later shifted my focus to 1-1 tutoring, as I found it allowed me to offer a more personalised and impactful learning experience. I also have experience supporting neurodiverse students, having volunteered at a SEND school. This has given me a deeper understanding of the importance of adapting teaching methods to cater to a wide range of learning styles, ensuring that every student feels supported and empowered. My lessons are structured yet flexible, typically starting with a recap of the previous session, followed by a warm-up exercise and a clear outline of the day's objectives. I use worked examples to demonstrate key concepts, encourage students to tackle problems with my guidance, and allocate time for independent practice. Each session concludes with a brief review and a tailored homework assignment to reinforce what we've covered.
