About Paul
For as long as I can remember, I have seen the world with wonder and awe. I knew I wanted to be a doctor and/or scientist at 8 years of age. After a residency in family medicine, I started my career as a rural family doctor. Moonlighting in the ER for much of that time, I transitioned to full - time emergency medicine, gaining valuable experience in acute - care medicine, surgical technique and lifesaving procedures. While teaching residents, interns, medical and nursing students, as a staff emergency department physician, I discovered that I had a passion for academia. Eventually I accepted a full time teaching position at a hospital based BSN program, I initially taught anatomy, physiology and microbiology. Soon thereafter, I transitioned to pharmacology and pathophysiology, which became my areas of expertise. I developed a two semester curriculum combining the disciplines. This was so well received, I was recruited by a well known publisher (F.A. Davis), to be the lead author of a textbook combining pathophysiology and pharmacology. As I look back over my career thus far, my wonder and awe perspective is not only still accurate, but if anything, greater in magnitude.

After working as a Family Doctor in a small town and an Emergency Medicine Doc, I taught anatomy, physiology, pathophysiolgy and pharmacology. As an educator, I consistently earned positive student reviews, and my students outperformed previous graduates on their licensure exams (by subject).
