About Orla
I am a singing tutor with over 5 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Classical Voice. My passion lies in ear training, harmony, melody, and the transformative power of music. I love helping students discover their unique voice and express themselves through song. I teach a wide variety of styles, including classical, pop, jazz, blues, and movie singing. My lessons focus on vocal training, music theory, sight singing, and performance techniques. Whether you are a school student, college learner, or aspiring professional, I tailor lessons to your goals and needs. I also bring strengths in improvisation, composition, music history, and music technology to support a well-rounded musical education. My approach is supportive and encouraging, helping students build confidence and creativity. Together, we’ll explore the joy of music and develop skills that last a lifetime. My teaching approach focuses on vocal wellness and mindfulness to support long-term voice care. For the Soloist in Training, we start each session with gentle warm-ups to prepare the voice safely. Hydration habits are emphasised to keep the vocal cords healthy and flexible. Healthy vocal placement helps prevent strain and encourages a clear, balanced tone. For the Church Ensemble Player, mindfulness is key to blending strong singing with calm presence. We practise breath control and use guided breathwork tools to stay relaxed during long rehearsals. Both personas learn to balance vocal goals with mental calm and joy in singing, making every practice fulfilling. I recommend using vocal tracking apps to monitor progress gently, alongside mindfulness timers to create focused, stress-free practice sessions. These tools help build awareness of both voice and mind. Together, we nurture a positive, sustainable singing journey focused on wellness and artistic expression.
