About Malia
With a Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance and over 4 years of experience, I help adults explore singing in a relaxed, positive way. Whether you’re a beginner, a returning hobbyist, or a choir member, my goal is to help you feel confident and free in your voice. My teaching blends breath awareness, mindful posture, and tone development for natural, expressive singing. Lessons are rooted in ease and curiosity, not perfection. I enjoy guiding students through Jazz, Folk, Blues, and Contemporary Adult styles, showing how each can bring out different shades of expression. Singing can be a space of creativity, calm, and personal growth. Together, we’ll build your confidence and find the music that feels most true to you. It’s never too late to reconnect with your voice—let’s make your singing journey joyful and fulfilling.

I guide singers to find the heart of every song they perform. My approach emphasizes lyric interpretation, emotional depth, and storytelling. Students learn to convey meaning through tone, phrasing, and subtle musical gestures. I help refine dynamic control, vocal color, and timing for authentic expression. Lessons focus on connecting personal emotion to the music to engage the audience fully. I work with The Fiddler to bring instrumental sensitivity into vocal storytelling. The Music Major strengthens performance skills and expressive nuance. Each session combines technical development with creative interpretation. Feedback is consistent, actionable, and encouraging. My goal is to help you truly inhabit your songs. Singing becomes both an artistic and emotional experience. You’ll leave each lesson more confident in your ability to communicate meaning. Together, we’ll transform songs into moving stories.
