About Matteo
As a pianist with a Bachelor of Arts in Musicology (Piano History) and 3 years of teaching experience, I’m passionate about helping musicians unlock their creative potential through jazz. My teaching combines improvisation, comping skills, and harmonic fluency. Students learn how to craft rich voicings and connect theory to expressive sound. I emphasize ear training for chord recognition, rhythmic awareness, and transcription as core tools of growth. My approach is both analytical and intuitive, blending technical study with musical mindfulness. Jazz theory is taught not as rules, but as a language of freedom. Over the years, I’ve supported learners from Early Intermediate to Professional/Expert levels in deepening their sound and style. Lessons are tailored to individual goals, whether that’s groove, chordal color, or improvisational depth. I aim to build confident, creative players who listen as deeply as they play. My teaching method celebrates the timeless art of classical piano. I guide students through the study of musical form, harmonic structure, and expressive storytelling. Each lesson focuses on understanding the repertoire as both art and history. Students learn to analyze works by Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and others with attention to context and style. Technique is always taught alongside musical purpose. I help learners develop phrasing, tone control, and emotional insight. My approach resonates deeply with The Composer and The Therapy Seeker, encouraging both introspection and creativity. Lessons are reflective, structured, and highly personal. We study how composers translated feeling into form. Through this, students learn not just to play, but to communicate. Classical piano becomes a tool for expression and self-discovery. Each session builds artistry and awareness. Together, we’ll breathe new life into masterworks through thoughtful interpretation.
