About Ansel
With over 7 years of experience as a violin tutor and a BM in Music Education specializing in Orchestral Strings, I bring both expertise and enthusiasm to every lesson. My background includes directing string ensembles, leading group violin classes, and conducting youth orchestras with a strong emphasis on musical collaboration. I have a deep passion for chamber music coaching, where students learn the art of listening, responding, and blending within a group. In my teaching, I focus on ensemble dynamics, section leadership, and developing an ear for collective tuning. Whether working on phrasing or timing, I guide students to play with both precision and heart. I have led workshops in schools, coached in community centers, and performed with various chamber groups. These experiences have shaped my approach to teaching team musicianship in an engaging and supportive way. I encourage students to lead confidently while also valuing the voices around them. Learning to adjust intonation and rhythm in real time is a key part of my method. Group playing builds not only musical skills but strong communication and connection. The joy of ensemble playing lies in the shared energy and growth that happens when music is made together. I strive to help each student discover that joy and carry it with them beyond the classroom.

My teaching approach is all about helping students play the violin with precision and confidence. I focus strongly on intonation and aural skills, ensuring every note is in tune. We work together to train your ear so you can hear even the smallest pitch changes. I use drone practice regularly to develop pitch stability and guide students in adjusting their intonation in real time. Playing in tune across all positions becomes easier with targeted exercises and focused listening.
I also incorporate scales, shifting drills, and slow practice to build muscle memory and strengthen accuracy. My goal is to make sure students are not just playing the notes but truly hearing and feeling them. For those aiming to shine in pop or classical vocal performance, I offer tailored strategies that help support their unique musical goals. We'll work on matching pitch closely, staying in tune with tracks or accompaniment, and blending beautifully with other instruments or voices.
Every student receives a plan suited to their level and aspirations. I give clear feedback, simple explanations, and practical tools. Whether you're working on a new solo, a cover, or your first concert piece, I'll help you bring out your best sound. Together, we’ll make your violin sing beautifully and with purpose.
