About Ellen
As an individual who used to receive tutoring for the IB Diploma Program in high school, I understand how it feels to be participating in tutoring. This experience is what helps me to be empathetic while also pushing students to achieve their academic goals.
I have two master's degrees and a bachelor of science. I understand the challenges that come with academic work, but I have also navigated them myself, ranging from preparing for exams, working on project-based assignments, and submitting my final dissertation and thesis.
I have worked with elementary students, children struggling with reading, and I have mentored high school and college students in specific subjects like Biology, Psychology, English and Geography.
I hope to make sessions engaging, but most of all I hope to build students' confidence in themselves.

My teaching method is guided by developmental and educational psychology principles. Classes will be tailored so that they facilitate building confidence and motivation, which then allows for optimal learning!
I usually start and finish with at least five minutes of time for students to transition into/out of sessions, and offer breaks. I am an empathetic tutor who has experienced being tutored myself as a high school student.
Our sessions will include goal setting so that students can clearly define and measure their goals. Our sessions will also include at least five minutes of an activity enjoyed by the student to maintain motivation.
I can cover a variety of topics such as Geography, English Literature, Reading and Mathematics for high school students.
Willing to tutor college level students in Statistics, Psychology, R, SPSS or thesis writing.
