About Jake
For the past 30 years I have dedicated every facet of my life to the stage and the art of acting. I've spent the majority of that time in the Austin area doing everything from dinner theater in libraries to regional productions in historic theaters. My decades of hard work and practical experience have provided me with an intimate and expert understanding of this craft. From breathing techniques and projection to proper diction and dialect coaching to basic blocking and stage combat. Coupled with 7 years classroom experience teaching English and History, I bring a unique skill set allowing me to wholly analyze theatrical works while also fully fleshing them out with historical context.

With just over 30 years spent treading the boards and a resume spanning from Sophocles to Shakespeare to Ludwig, and 7 years instructing at the high school level, I bring a seasoned yet supportive style to my lessons. Using mainly The Stanislavski Method and its variants, you will learn to identify the needs and motivations of your characters and scenes by adding your own life's experience to the material. Our goal will be to reach a point where the character's reactions and interactions become as instinctual and narural as your own, a seamless blending of actor and character. "Why?" will be the most important and repeated question during the process.
