About Cameron
Beginners and advanced players alike often find themselves stuck in the weeds of notation. It is a strange habit, reading before hearing. I grew up at pickin parties in Quebec where the music lived in the air. Older players handed down melodies by ear and I kept that habit.
My 5 years of experience have shown me how vital this is for intonation and vibrato. I hold a BA in Ethnomusicology from UCLA. Many students come to me after years of rigid grade exam prep like ABRSM or Trinity.
They struggle with posture or left hand agility because the page became a wall. My job is to bridge that gap.

Since you want to start, we sit down to play a simple phrase together immediately. You hear the interval before you ever see it on the staff. We tune by ear to keep our focus on the sound itself.
Developing your bowing technique is a matter of physical rhythm rather than logic. Intermediate learners often realize they have been holding their breath while sight reading. We address this through music theory that feels like a conversation. Grade exam candidates find that once the ear is trained, the reading becomes secondary.
Tuning is consistent. The posture settles into place. It happens naturally.
