About Nico
Hi, I’m a piano tutor with over 14 years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Piano. I’ve dedicated my life to music, and I have a deep passion for composition, songwriting, and helping others express themselves through the piano. My teaching style is fun, engaging, and completely tailored to each student’s needs and goals. Whether you're a school student, college learner, adult hobbyist, or working professional, I create lessons that fit your pace and interests. I specialize in chord theory, sight-reading, performance skills, and jazz improvisation. I love helping students connect technique with creativity—making music feel both exciting and meaningful. I’ve worked with learners from intermediate to advanced levels, including those pursuing music professionally. My lessons are structured yet flexible, offering real progress without losing the joy of playing. We explore a wide range of musical styles and dive deep into the art of expression. My piano teaching approach is built around helping students grow steadily through structured, yet enjoyable lessons. I guide learners through essential skills like chord progressions, scale work, and rhythmic exercises to build a strong musical foundation. We also focus on expanding repertoire, so students can enjoy playing pieces they love while building technique and confidence.
I use real-time feedback during lessons to correct habits early and encourage musical expression. Each student learns at their own pace, with practice routines that are engaging, goal-oriented, and easy to follow. I support students who play for enjoyment just as much as those who want to master pop styles and perform confidently. Whether it’s learning a favorite song, improving left-hand coordination, or exploring how chords work in real music, I tailor each session to the student's interests.
I also help students develop a musical ear and learn how to play by listening, not just reading. This makes practice more creative and fun. We often break songs down to understand patterns, structure, and emotion. My lessons blend theory with play, discipline with freedom. Most of all, I aim to create a space where students feel motivated, supported, and inspired to keep going.
