About Sarah
I make it a point to be a warm and welcoming teacher. I have experience teaching beginning-advanced children through adults (including adult beginners). My students sing all sorts of styles, and I enjoy teaching all of them. I have a bachelor's in Vocal Music Education with an emphasis in Vocal Performance, along with 3 years of public and private teaching general music, choir, voice and piano lessons. I have sung solo and in a choral ensemble across the globe with trips to Austria, Italy, Slovenia, and Hungary. During my studies, I enjoyed connecting with the true meaning of the music, especially since most of my songs were in a different language. Additionally, I have soloed with the Carthage Philharmonic Orchestra and Carthage Choir. I enjoy singing just about anything, but I particularly have been loving jazz and pop singing lately. As a teacher, I value authenticity. I promise to bring my authentic self to each lesson in hopes that you feel comfortable to do the same. Singing can feel intimidating sometimes, since the instrument is a part of your body. If you were ever shamed into not singing, I am determined to help you gain confidence in your voice and musicality! Whether you have tons of experience or are just looking to start a new hobby, I can't wait to help you grow into a confident and independent musician.

Learning to sing can be a vulnerable experience. My goal is to make you as comfortable as possible while we explore the possibilities of your unique voice. No matter your skill level, we will work to create an artistic process that you love.
In lessons with me, we will do warmups and exercise to strengthen and stretch the voice along with work on specific songs. YOU are the one who chooses what you want to study, whether it's Broadway, pop, classical etc, I will work with you to find songs that you love to sing and work on.
I have experience teaching all ages and abilities. I can take students over 12 years old. If you have always been a bit nervous to sing, I'm the teacher for you! If you've been singing for years and really want to dig into the craft of the voice, I also love doing that work with my students. My goal is YOUR goal, whatever we decide that it may be together :)
