About Erica
Teaching provides a quiet space to examine the intricate architecture of a score. Admittedly, I find the most satisfaction in deciphering the complex structures of 20th-century composers for students who expect them to be inaccessible. Over the last 13 years, I have worked with everyone from adults beginning their musical journey to collegiate performers prepping for high-stakes auditions.
Whether focusing on ABRSM exam preparation or refining hand independence, the rigor remains constant. Watching a student finally master a difficult passage of Prokofiev remains deeply enjoyable.

You will find that our time together focuses heavily on the technical nuances of dynamics, expression, and precise rhythm. Given my background at the Manhattan School of Music, I emphasize the same structural discipline I apply to Bartók or Ligeti repertoire.

This allows us to track your pedaling technique and ear training progress between meetings. My 13 years of experience informs how I pace these check-ins to ensure you remain challenged but clear on your objectives.
