About Kate
During my time at university I completed the York Students in Schools program which saw me work with a class of 16-18 year old at York college. I previously tutored GCSE students in secondary school and have regularly helped out friends with undergraduate work.
My rates reflect my wish to build teaching experience before embarking on teacher training.

I graduated from the University of York with an MA in Medieval History in 2014 before going into finance. I have recently quit my job and plan to return to university in the next year for formal teacher training.
When teaching I tend to focus first on building a solid base understanding of the topic before introducing different schools of theory and close source analysis. I find this encourages students to think around historical and literacy topics in interesting and innovative ways.
My undergraduate degree is a 2:I, also from the University of York. My A Levels (before the time of A*!) are Politics (A), History (A), English Literature (A), Classical Civilisations (B- although I did have to teach myself the A2 course content!) and Philosophy and Ethics (A). I am happy to tutor in any of these subjects up to school leaver level.
I enjoy research and am happy to read texts and research historical periods for students. After 4 years at university I also have a solid understanding of how to write an essay to degree level. I can either tutor from home via skype, at an agreed location, or at your home if you are local to York.
